Happy Fall Y'all!

I hosted book club this month. We read The Alchemist, such a thought provoking short and easy read, loved it! We have the best group of girls in book club, I'm so sad I didn't get a shot of all of my beautiful ladies eating dinner in a pumpkin!

The kids threw a killer Halloween party. We danced in the dark with glow sticks, played games, watched a movie and ate yummy, spooky treats!

3 of my Fav's!

So I'm not the best blogger in the world, big deal. I don't like feeling the pressure of "one more thing to keep up with". I have enough more important things to keep me busy already. So instead of stressing about how I need to catch everybody up on the last 5 months (which would probably take too many hours of my time) I'm just going to write about whatever I want whenever I want . Weather it be once a week or once a year, it doesn't really matter. Point is, I want blogging to be fun, and not just one more thing to put on the to do list, I already put myself through that stress with scrapbooking, I'm not doing it again. Does any one else feel this way? Or am I the only one?
So here are some things that put a smile on my face everyday....

The Swiffer Vac deserves a serious shout out!! My life is so much easier each day because of this little baby. It picks up all the dirt, hair and dust that a broom just flings around. It takes me about 2 minutes or less to clean my entire kitchen, dining room and entry way...also perfect for bathrooms. Cleaning the floor has become my most favorite chore of the day. The reason I am posting this is to let all you Mom's in on this cleaning wonder. If you don't own one, BUY ONE, you will thank me!!!

The phrase, " I love chocolate" is an understatement when it comes to my feeling towards chocolate. Riesens are one of my all time favorites. Yummmy!!

My IPHONE!!! O.k, so I've never been one to be into any kind of electronics. When the big iphone craze was going on I never thought once about ever owning one. I figured it would probably be too difficult to figure out and I'm not one who thinks it's cool to have all sorts of apps on my phone. I just want my phone to work! Boy was I wrong. The iphone is SOOO user friendly, so handy, convenient...I could go on and on. I've had it for only a week and don't know how ever got along without it. I LOVE IT!!

Glory!

Glory (glōr 'ē, glôr 'ē)

n. Resplendent beauty, brilliance, or magnificence; A state of splendor or great happiness

My beautiful and sweet Glory, your parents couldn't have picked a more fitting name for you. I’ve wanted to write something about you on our blog for some time now but as you know life has been hectic over the past few months and it’s been hard to find the time to do it. Plus, it’s very difficult to blog when someone (me) takes forever to get the Internet set up at our new home.

Can you believe we’ve been married for almost 11 years? It’s crazy how quick the time goes by. Glory, I love being married to you and cherish everything we’ve been through and accomplished together over the years. I think you’ll agree that it hasn’t always been easy, but its definitely been worth it! You already know I think you're amazing, so I figure this blog is my opportunity to brag to the world about how wonderful you are! Below are just a few of my favorite things about you.

First, you’re such an amazing and selfless mother who always puts your children first! Your ability to encourage, teach and motivate them amazes me. When all I want to do is punish our kids for misbehaving, you’re patient with them and find creative and fun ways to encourage the right decisions. Who would have thought that giving out stars and having a “goodie box” could be so effective in getting our kids to do the right things? You have sacrificed so much for our family and I hope one day our children realize what a blessing it was to have a you home and always there for them.

Second, you don’t sweat the small stuff and appreciate the little things in life. I love the fact that you don’t spend much time worrying about small, trivial things in life and are able to focus on the big picture. You have a real gift for resolving what is important and what is not. On the other hand it’s so much fun to see you get excited about the little niceties in life. I swear you’re just as excited when I bring you home a box of Junior Mints from the grocery store as you are when I buy you something more expensive.

Third, you’re absolutely beautiful and I find myself falling more in love with you every day! It’s crazy because you still look like you could be a freshman in college but your walking around with 4 kids! I’ll bet people who see us at the store find it very inappropriate when they see me kissing someone who looks too young to be my wife!

Fourth, you’re so adventurous and fun to hang out with! From going bungee jumping in the rain, to going running together, to trips to the gulf, to tubing down a freezing cold canal, to taking 24 hour + road trips, to camping, to taking romantic get-aways, to visiting cool sites all around Ft. Worth, to watching movies together late at night... I can’t think of another person I’d rather spend my time with then you!

Finally, you always make sure we have a sweet spirit in our home and that our family stays focused on the most important thing which is the gospel of Christ. You’re always so good at making sure we have family home evening every Monday, that we read scriptures and pray every night, and that we get up early on Sunday to get to church on time…at least most of the time. ; ) You have always been such a good example to me as well as others of how we should live our lives.

Glory, even after 11 years I find new things that amaze me about you almost every day. You truly are an amazing wife and I love you more and more each day! I love being your companion and I can’t wait for all the fun adventures that await us!

Ruby in White

Ruby doing her little grump face. Unfortunately I didn't get a better picture of her than this. I think I'll have to stick the dress back on her and take some more.

Ruby was blessed in my baby blessing dress. I love that I wore it, all my sisters wore it, and Eliza wore it. Paul gave her a beautiful blessing and she slept right through it plus the entire three hours of church.

Papa came a couple days before the blessing and helped Paul do all sorts of handy work around the house. Lisa, Ken and their kids came for the weekend too.

Mimi came and stayed with me for 10 days. I'm lucky because unlike a lot of people out there, I love my Mother-in-law. She was a little busy bee the whole time she was here. She made cinnamon rolls, home made bread, tons of dinners and made enough to freeze a bunch of meals, did dishes and laundry around the clock, she weeded the whole front and back of the house and had time to whip me up some curtains for my living room, all while helping watch the kids. There really isn't another person like her. Thank you Lorie, you are the best!!! Can you come back next month? ; )

This is what happens when you leave three 2 year olds alone. We were all down stairs eating and talking when someone asked where the twins and zz were. Upstairs in the tub with all their clothes on of course! They actually did this one more time before the cousins went home.

Mimi and Papa with my orphan looking children. The kids had been swimming in the back, we actually put ZZ's underwear back on to take the picture. It's great having a fenced in back yard.

We took Mimi and Papa to Cabella's. It has a huge fish tank and a lot of other cool things to look at (if you like looking at a lot of stuffed animals, kinda sad, especially the stuffed chipmunks) There is also a shooting range, no worries, the guns are fake. It was a lot of fun and pretty much free.

Some random photos below:

This child is obsessed with washing his bike, definitely has the Smith car washing gene.

"Lady Bug Girl" wanted me to take a picture of her in this awesome get-up.

Ruby had her two month check up and weighs 12 lbs now. No wonder I can't make enough milk for this little chub.

5 weeks old!

this is for you Amy

My Ruby has got to be one of the easiest babies on the planet. She already sleeps through the night! Unfortunately she had a fever of 102 degrees a few days ago and I had to take her to the E.R. It was a bit of a nightmare. They did everything from x-rays, I.V's to a spinal tap!! Scary! My poor little baby was poked and prodded for about 4 hours before they finally got the results that she just had the flu and that we could go home. When I finally left the hospital I remember thinking, "Man that was such a waist! All they did was torture my sweet sick baby!" Immediately following that thought I had a change of heart and felt extremely grateful that nothing was seriously wrong with her, and that I could take her home. What a blessing it is that she is healthy and not still in the hospital with some deathly infection.
Our friends Rochelle and Greg definitely deserve a shout out for watching my kids for hours on end and then putting them to bed for us. Greg also gave Ruby a beautiful blessing before we left for the hospital. Thanks a ton you Guys! We owe you one!

At Home with our Ruby

My four Babies!

Our little Doll!

Helping with the Laundry. She's such a good helper.

She finds her thumb every now and then, it's the cutest thing.

Grandma Claudia came to stay for 10 days, she was a HUGE help. We had a blast with her and we are so sad to have her go home. I wish she'd move in.

My mom says this picture looks just like me as a baby. I must have been pretty cute...what happened ; )
The labor and Delivery story (in case you were wondering)
O.k., so early in the morning on the 14th I felt my first contractions, I didn't think much of it but they were a little painful. I told Paul about it and he said he thought I'd have the baby within 24 hours. I had never gone into labor on my own before so I had no idea what to expect. I thought for sure though that I wouldn't have the baby for another few days. I went about the day as usual, you know, did the normal stuff. Went to the dentist, the post office, took kids to school, vacuumed stairs and even cleaned a bathroom and all the while I was having these contractions. They weren't very regular so I assumed it was probably false labor, but, they were hurting pretty good. By 5pm they were starting to get closer together, but still not close enough that I thought I was in labor, but whenever I would have a contraction, I would have to breath through it so I knew something was going on. I decided to call my good friend who is a labor and delivery nurse in California to see if I should go to the hospital or not. My biggest worry was that I would get to the hospital, I would be dilated to a one or two and they would send me home with some pain medicine thinking what a big wimp I was being. Well, my friend told me that sometimes false labor is brought on by dehydration. Oh my goodness I thought to myself, I've had hardly anything to drink today, that's probably it. Then she told me that the contractions could possibly go away if I layed down and rested for a little bit. Huh, I hadn't tried that either. After getting off the phone with her I was convinced I was in false labor and that I just needed to lay down with a big glass of water. Paul had come home from work by this time and asked how close my contraction were. Every 5-45 minutes I told him, still they were totally sporadic. We sat down to watch a movie together to see if the contractions would go away and I had like 3 contractions in 15 minutes. Paul watched me breath through them and immediately ordered the kids to get into the car because he was taking me to the hospital. I kept telling him that they would probably send me home, but he insisted that we go. We dropped the kids off at a friends house and we left for the hospital. We arrived at the hospital around 7pm...long story short, our Ruby was born less than an hour and a half later! And guess what? There was no time for drugs!!! It's a good thing Paul told me to get in the car when he did, or we could have had this baby in the car! I did it totally natural, not by choice of course, but looking back on it I'm glad I got to experience it (no really, I'm not kidding) Paul was the best labor coach ever! Surprisingly he was the only one who didn't annoy me during the delivery. Honestly, I felt like everything was pretty bearable up until transition...holy cow, that was a beast! Luckily it didn't last long. I kept asking for an epidural and the nurses kept telling me it was coming. I found out only after the birth that they were lying to me and that the anesthesiologist on call was out to dinner and there was no way he was going to get there on time. Truth is, I'm glad they lied to me. I think holding onto the hope that drugs were coming was the only thing keeping me under control. It wasn't until the Dr. (not mine of course, there was no way he was going to make it on time either) came in and checked me and told me I was a 9 1/2 that I realized I was doing this without drugs. I said to him, "what about the epidural?" He laughed out loud at me and said, "Ha! You can't get drugs, it's too late for that!" I think I wanted to kick him at that point! I started pushing soon after that. Pushing was a beast too! I broke tons of capillaries in my face and shoulders and chest. I must have totally looked like one of those women on TLC, sweat dripping down my face and mopping my brow with a cold wash cloth, I'm sure I was quite a sight to see. I have to say I disagree with anyone who says pushing without an epidural is easier, yeah right! She was the hardest one out of all my kids to push out and she was by far my smallest baby. I have to say though, as soon as she was out and the doctor plopped her on top of me, all the hard painful labor was completely over, just like that. I was so happy and totally in heaven as soon as our little Ruby was born. My recovery was super fast and Ruby has been an angel baby since. There you have it. I'm impressed if any of you really read this whole thing, good for you.
All my kids adore Ruby, they fight over who gets to hold her on a regular basis,( it's getting really old). I can't believe she is already over two weeks old. We feel so happy and blessed to have such a sweet piece of heaven in our home.

Happy Birthday Paul!

Happy Birthday my love! 33 years old...whew, you're an old man ; ) I hope you felt loved on your special day! You are an amazing father and husband! I'm so happy to be able to spend the rest of our lives and eternity together! I love you with all my heart! The kids are so lucky to have you as their Dad. I'm sometimes jealous that you are the more "fun" parent. Each night you wrestle with the kids, tickle them, give them horsey rides to their beds while I'm sitting their annoyed that we can't just hurry and get bed time over with. I know any time I'm in a bad mood you know just what to do to get me laughing. You have a talent of making me forget why I'm mad at you, or why I'm upset in general. I envy the way you can turn a negative situation into a positive one. Like when I brush Zachary's teeth, he'll scream and scream at me and all I can think is, "you little stinker, just hold still and stop crying", but not you. If Zachary starts screaming while you're brushing his teeth you somehow manipulate the situation and start singing silly songs or turning it into some kind of game so that the next thing I know, Zachary is smiling and laughing as you brush his teeth. How do you do that? You do that kind of stuff ALL the time! You are a great manipulator (in a good way). I love that you like to cook with me in the kitchen, I love that you call me every day just to say hi, I love that you are such a thoughtful gift giver, I love that you like be affectionate with me, I love that your hands are like 4 times the size of mine, I love playing games with you, I love that you are crazy about our children, and I love that you cannot wait to have another baby! Of course there are lots more things I love about you! Happy Birthday, you are loved!

Paul and Grant's finished lego project. Such a good Daddy!

December tid-bits

We got to be "home" for the holiday's this year and it was Fabulous! Sure, we love to see family, but it was just nice to not have to go anywhere, or try and divide up all our time equally with all the family members. We had to go off no ones agenda but our own. It was just perfect being home with the people I love most.

We had a Christmas party at our house with a bunch of our friends who were also staying home for the holidays. We ate way too much good food, cleaned up lots of spilled egg nog and just really enjoyed each other. I think there were like 20 kids running around my house for about 4 hours. The girls all kind of clustered together (typical female behavior) and the men all grouped up as well. The men talked Politics, books and other important things affecting our society. As for us women... well, we talked a lot about bodily functions, body hair, warts, breastfeeding, you know, all the important things.

A major highlight of the month was that Paul had two weeks off work, so we really got to make the most of his time home. I really put him to good use. The garage is now clean, every closet in our house is organized, his office is finally put together and we painted and put together a crib. Am I nesting or what? It's going to be a hard adjustment having Paul back at work and the kids in school again. Gone are the days of staying up late and waking up late.

CHRISTMAS MORNING! Look What Santa brought for Christmas! "Santa" thought it would be a great idea to buy a trampoline on a whim at the black Friday sales in Utah and then drive it all the way back to Texas and set it up Christmas Eve, all without the kids knowing, we totally pulled it off! The kids' reaction was priceless!

Our humble little family tree, I love it! I totally keep all of my kids dorky hand made ornaments, they really are my favorite.

Bright and early Christmas morning

Jumping on the Trampoline after all the presents were opened.

Jumping some more

Bouncing ZZ

...and still some more jumping. Lucky for us it was 65 degrees Christmas day so the kids had no problem spending hours outside on the new toy.

Z and his beloved Thomas.

love the Christmas morning hair!

My Lego obsessed boy, told us over and over again that this was the best Christmas ever!

Lulu trying out the new tea set from Mimi

New Christmas suits from Mimi and Papa, they really spoiled us (no surprise there!)

Some awesome air force sky divers making an entrance to the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl on New Years Eve. It was a busy day. After the football game in Fort Worth we attended three different new years parties and didn't get home until after 1am. I had elephants feet at the end of that day, they were awesome, I should have taken a picture.

Eating hot dogs, cotton candy, licorice, and hot chocolate.

The Armed Forces Marching Band. Playing something patriotic no doubt, and I'm probably holding back tears. I have a very tender spot in my heart for all of the fabulous men and women serving in the Armed Forces.

We feel loved!

The cousin gift exchange with items purchased at the dollar store.

We really wanted a picture of the kids with Santa, so we took the kids to see him at the mall, waited in line for an hour just to find out that you couldn't take any pictures! You could however take pictures if you bought the smallest portrait package of $20. I'm too cheap for that. I'm not spending $20 bucks to get some crappy picture of my kids with Santa. I was so mad.

Neighbor gifts. Pretzels dipped in caramel then chocolate, yum.

36 Big ones! (I saved the best for last)

This picture really doesn't do justice to my very large belly.

The next time I post, I'll probably have had a baby. I'll try to put pictures of our little gem on the blog asap. Two more weeks people!

Happy New Year everyone!

On the Road AGAIN!

A very blurry picture of the St. George temple.

For Thanksgiving this year we loaded up the kids and drove for 20 hours to St. George Utah to spend the holiday with Paul's family. Being 8 months prego, I was worried that it would be awful that long in the car. Honestly it wasn't that bad at all, we've trained our kids from birth how to travel long distances in a car.

We loved seeing all of the Watts' side of the family, and had a fabulous Thanksgiving feast. We always have a blast with Paul's family. We ate lots of food, played games, watched lots of football(oh joy) went to the movies and even braved shopping at 4am on black Friday (thanks Mimi and Papa for staying with the kids so we could go)!! Total crazy experience. Paul and I have been plenty of times, but this time was different. People were getting knocked down (Paul's Aunt being one of them) and some lady had the nerve to keep shoving me in the back with her cart! We were all corralled in the isles like cows and she kept shoving me in the back trying to get me to move! I turned around quickly and said rather harshly, "stop pushing me, I can't move!" She didn't even apologize, but she did stop. I think this lady learned her lesson: Don't shove an 8 month pregnant girl in the back at 5 in the morning!

One of my highlights of the trip was seeing Matt and Amy and their sweet kids. They drove down from Provo to spend some time with us. We ate at In-N-Out, played mini golf (so much fun!) went to the lighting ceremony at the St. George Temple, attended a session and even went swimming. We loved seeing them and I was so sad to say goodbye. It's hard not knowing when I'll see them again. Amy and Matt, thanks again for coming and bringing me the best homemade truffles and buckeye balls ever, it was the best 2 lbs I ever gained!

Studly bachelor, Uncle D and LuLu at the lighting ceremony (btw, I made the beanie Eliza is wearing during the long car ride. Luckily for me, I don't get car sick so I was able to make everyone in my family one)

The other Aunt Amy, and Uncle Spencer. The cutest newlyweds ever!! Actually they've been married for 2 years now but still act like they're just married. I miss them too.

Mimi and Papa!

Aunt Amy (my sister) and sweet little Bella. Sorry Matt, I didn't get a picture of you. The one time I bring out my camera and you were no where to be found.

two peas in a pod!

Me, Z and my big Daddy!

Handsome boys. Paul, his brothers and his Dad. I know, Paul looks nothing like his brothers

My little sis and I after our awesome session. I kept grabbing Amy's hand so she could feel Ruby squirm all over the place.

Big Momma, Mimi, and Amy
This is how my kids slept each night. 3 to a bed, the best thing we ever thought of. There were a couple of nights two of the kids would end up on the floor in that little space between the wall and the bed.

All Aboard! Checking out of our great hotel, the Abby Inn

Some of the sights along the way home. Totally breathtaking isn't it?

Glen Canyon, Arizona

Snow in Arizona. We couldn't resist.

At one point during our car ride Grant got a hold of the camera. I ended up deleting about 20 videos he made of his Lego's. We wondered why he was having such a good 'ole time in the back seat for hours. The rest of the photos are pictures Grant took without us knowing, but I thought I would post them since they pretty much show exactly what most of our trip looked like!

Another memorable trip!

November Milestones

Potty train Zachary...check!
(sorry for the pornographic picture) After Halloween I decided to give potty training a try, if it worked out, great, if not, no big deal. I really just planned on having two in diapers, so it was a nice surprise when just after a week, little Z was fully potty trained. I guess I'll never know what having two in diapers feels like...poor me!

video

Teach Eliza how to ride a two wheeler...check!

Actually Grant taught her! After her soccer game one Saturday earlier in November she came home and decided she wanted her training wheels off. This video of her is the first day with her training wheels off. Grant spent the after noon with her riding back and forth on the patio. She's usually on that bike every single day after school.

Halloween Watt's style!

We LOVE Halloween, have I mentioned that before? We have all sorts of traditions in our home during the month of October. Some of them include: eating Dinner in a Pumpkin, decorating the house while listening to "Elmo sings the Boos"(Paul hates that cd) Making lots of homemade decorations, treats, carving pumpkins and decorating sugar cookies...to name a few. This year for Halloween we had Ken, Lisa and kids (Paul's sisters family) spend the weekend with us. I feel bad I didn't get one picture of our kids together in their costumes. We went to the ward "trunk-or-treat"` it looked more like a Stake size function. I've never seen a bigger trunk or treat. It took us 45 minutes to go to every car ( we had an awesomely decorated trunk, thanks Paul). We came home with 3 grocery bags full of candy, unfortunatly they're almost gone, yikes! The kids had a blast!
The following night we dressed up again and went to the elementary school, "Fall Ball", it was pretty lame (no offense to the PTA members in charge of that one) Hardly anyone was there, Grant didn't see one person from his class. Oh, well. We still had a good time. After the Fall Ball, Paul and I left the kids with a babysitter and went to a grown up Halloween party!

Our "Scary" Vampire. His cousin Ellie literally couldn't look at him with his teeth in, it scared her too much. He thought he looked pretty awsome. It's been a week and his hair is still gray from the black hair spray.

Pretty little Indian princess. Doesn't she look like Tiger Lily from Peter Pan?

My baby, Thomas the Tank Engine. We were lucky he wore it the whole time at the trunk or treat, he wouldn't let us put it on him again. He was the cutest little trick or treater.

"Mr. Bottle Bones" We made last year from Milk jugs. It's my kids most prized Halloween decoration.

What? Is that Brangelina? That's right, we went to our party as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. We were hauling around like 4 babies, it was pretty funny. We attended the annual Halloween party thrown by our friends Lisa and John. This was our first year to go and we heard that folks go ALL-OUT at this party. Last year two couples came all decked out as members of the band KISS, costumes, instruments, make-up and all! So I knew we couln't come in some generic costumes like say, Pirates.
At this party we were told that everyone had to come prepared to preform a skit. The best skit and costumes were awarded prizes at the end of the night. I was reluctant to do a skit, but a friend of mine told me what a big deal it was, and that I would be "lame" if I didn't. Long story short, we won first prize for our skit! Let's just say it involved Paul and I doing some yoga, my water breaking (I popped a water balloon strapped to the inside of my thigh) and giving birth to a cute little black baby. I'll let your imaginations run with that one. People were literally rolling on the floor.

"Frankintreats"

It's been a fun month, but I'm definitely ready for November. Hope y'all had a fun and safe Halloween!

My feelings on Prop 8...vote YES!

Even though I no longer live in California, I feel it is important to communicate my thoughts and feelings on this important subject since this will eventually have an impact on the rest of the country.

First of all I have personally done a lot of research on this specific initiative in order to better understand both sides of the issue. If you would like to read more about Proposition 8 yourself, you can go to:

or
- http://www.protectmarriage.com/
or
- Go to Google or Yahoo and Type "Proposition 8" for a ton of articles

I understand this is a very sensitive subject for most people and I want to make it clear that I believe all individuals should have equal rights. Both Paul and I have gay friends who we absolutely adore and are some of the nicest people we know. We respect others decisions and hope they respect ours.

I am for Proposition 8 and here's why:

- The proposed amendment to California's constitution reads simply "Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California". Marriage has historically always been between a husband and a wife; however, there has been a recent effort to change this definition. If this definition is allowed to be changed there will be conflicts with religious liberty and a diminishing of traditional values. Passing Proposition 8 does not take away the right of same sex couples to have civil unions.

- It disturbs me to think that if this proposition does not pass that our public school system could start to teach our children what is morally right and wrong. For those of you who say, "that is not true" we already are seeing this in Massachusetts schools. To see a story about this you can go to: www.protectmarriage.com/video . Such a sensitive and important subject needs to be taught to our children by parents and not our schools or government.

- Finally, I'm concerned that there will be no tolerance of moral beliefs if Proposition 8 does not pass and this issue is left to the biased courts of California to decide. (btw, didn't California already vote on this same issue and the courts overturned it????? just a thought)

I hope none of you are offended by reading this, that was certainly not my intention. My family and beliefs are too important to not say anything at all.

24 Weeks Prego!

I am now in the lovely stage of "showing" which I absolutely love! I hate the "in between" stage where people wonder..."is she pregnant, or just getting a gut?" I now get to hear all of the many different remarks about my ever growing belly from people I know as well as strangers . My belly is a great conversation starter. I think it's so crazy that one person will say, "Oh my goodness, I didn't even know you were pregnant, you are hardly showing" and another will say, (ahem, my bishop) "Wow, you're looking mighty pregnant". I think my all time favorite comment was from a new friend whom I only met a few weeks ago who tried to complement me by saying, "wow, you barley look pregnant, you look like your only 22 weeks or something". She must of thought I was 8 months or so because I shocked her when I said, "I am 22 weeks, good guess". I realize this is the beginning of lots of interesting and awkward comments. I'm fully prepared for the strangers in the grocery store who come up to me looking so sorry for me and saying,"oh, you poor thing, you must be due any minute." "Nope, 7 more weeks, but thanks". I get that one every time! For all of you who look at this picture and think, "she's not that big", just you wait, I get huge!
