That's right, we went to the beach! Paul finished his last day of school and we waisted no time to part-ay! We drove with our friends the Guymons to Port Aransas, near Corpus Christi on the Gulf of Mexico. It's just a few hours in the car and you're there. We spent two days just hanging out on the beach. The weather was in the 90's , the water was a perfect temperature and the kids were happy just digging away in the sand. Ahh...vacations are so nice, and we needed one bad! I forgot my camera (I hate when I do that) so Ashley took a few pics for me, thanks Ash!
We rented a boogie board and a couple of long boards and took turns catching some waves! Little G spent hours on this thing.
We were told that we had to try this restaurant called the Raging Cajun. They just plop this big bucket of corn, potatoes, craw fish ('crawdads' to you Californians), crab and shrimp, give you a wooden mallet and let you go to town. I think my favorite part was this guy who stood outside the restaurant playing his trumpet. He wasn't really playing music, just making noise. The restaurant owners don't pay him (obviously) but are nice enough to let him hang out and jam on his trumpet every night. Paul gave him a tip when we left.
Paul with his long board (you can't see it) getting ready for some surfing. It was his first time, and honestly, I think he did pretty well. The waves weren't the best for surfing so he would catch a wave and ride it for like 2 seconds before falling off. It looked exhausting. I gave it a try and got up a few times myself. I think we all agree that Steve is the master surfer.
Eliza, Kalli and Z had a good time getting sand on their scalps and inside their diapers and swimsuits.

We can't wait to go back and are planning another trip.
Guymons...you in?

First I have to say thank you Ashley for the pictures! And Glory never forget your camera again.! Your trip looks awesome!!!! You guys are so fun for getting the boards. That corn looked good. I love your family picture. Hey and by the way in the other blog you said z was a angel now. Is that true. O is turning into monster. I can't wait to see you guys in just a few weeks!!!!!! Keep up the good work (on blogging). I want to see some homes you guys are looking at. Miss you sooo much. xoxo
Sounds like you guys had a blast. That food you ate is what Georgians call a low country boil(pronounced bowl). We ate it all the time.
That is so funny...it kind of set me back for a second when you said your friends the Guymons. We certainly don't live by the beach. It looks like a fun trip--and cute swimsuit, Glory!
Do you even need to ask? I'm already there- where are you? This is definitely going to be tradition. We couldn't have picked a better fam to vaca with. (sweet abbreviations, eh?)
Sarah- are we related?? (JK- I have no idea what my in-laws family tree is like... maybe I should work on that.) And just because you sound like you have a cool name- you can come too. And Amy- your on pictures this time.
Talk to you soon! I have a wild story about my flight that must be shared via telephone. I got to land with firetrucks and ambulances!! Not an honor that I'd ever wish to repeat...
This sounds like so much fun! Did you guys camp, or get a nice hotel room? I want to try out surfing pretty badly. Pathetic that I lived in Santa Barbara for half a year and never tried.
We too just got back from the beach, and it's always a well-needed (and earned, I like to think) break.
So cute Glory! I love the family picture with the surfboards. The way Eliza is standing totally reminds me of you and all those pictures we used to take in high school. You are always so graceful-looking and photogenic.
yEAH!!!! cONgrats on the graduation and all the great new things that are in store. Thanks for updating your blog - it makes me feel apart of you all.
I spent 3 months in corpus christi as a child and will never forget it. [probably since we were swimming with tar (big oil spill in the 80's better not tell Al Gore)] The beach is so memorable for kids and keep me posted.
always, heather
