"La-la Queen" Birthday!

Is it possible that two years has already gone by? I can't believe my baby is two years old. I'm sad and happy at the same time. I know everybody says that, but it's true. Babies grow up way too fast. We wanted to have a little celebration for our little Z, so we had a little family party today. He loves Lightning McQueen, no, more like obsessed! He is in love with the movie and all the characters. I really wanted to make him a car cake but decided I didn't want to spend my whole day trying to figure it out. I ended up making a race track cake that turned out pretty cute. We just love Zz, he's such a little fire ball and acts like a little tough guy. He's king of scowls and thinks he's a lot bigger than he really is, at the same time he's a little softie, and can't resist snuggling with his Mama while rocking in the rocking chair. I think we'll keep him!

Zachary, two years ago! What a cutie!
I'm no cake decorator, but I'm pretty pleased with my last minute creation. Two round cakes, green sprinkles, crushed chocolate cookies, some white good and plenty, your favorite toy cars and voila. Oh, and Grant made the cute little checkered flags. Zach was in heaven with his special cake.

I tried to get a perfect picture of him blowing out the candles.

Unfortunately I was a few seconds behind, oh well. Notice Eliza with Grants hand covering her mouth making sure she didn't blow out the candles...he's so helpful ; )

Grant gave Zach the hippie van, Fillmore. He told me he couldn't wait till Zach's next birthday so he could buy him another present.

Zach loved pointing to each car and telling us who each character is.
Eliza was so excited to pick out a present for Zach, she was as happy as he was to get Mater and Sheriff.

Happy Birthday Zach! You look so big. I always wonder what Amelia will be into for parties :) Glory your cake is awesome. I really don't know if I would be so creative. I miss you.

Happy Birthday, Zach! I absolutely love the cake! I thought of cute ideas for McKinley's cake, but all my efforts flopped and it was this ugly brown cake that I just put Sesame Street toppers on. Boring! I have missed you on the blog scene.

Thanks for the memory. I totally remember going to the dollar movies for my bday. Might Ducks, how funny is that! Funny who we thought was cute back then, huh?
A memory of you..sitting in your room, when you were in the one closest to the bathroom, just sitting on your bed talking about boys. I think we were barely in highschool, or almost there. We went outside and played on the rope swing. I was so scared that I was going to plummet to my death. Good times. I love you Glow!

Happy Birthday ZZ! Scott would be in heaven with a Lightening McQueen cake and party like that. How are things getting settled? Let me know if you need any help (not that I am much help, but Ben is!)

Too cute!! I wish I could have been there. Zachy couldn't ask for anything more with such an awesome cake as that. I wish I could have see his little face in person, just pure delight. I love and miss him so much. Go la la queen!!!

I'm thoroughly impressed by your awesome cake! I would've had to plan that out for weeks to pull it off.
You'll have to give us a call so we can play!!

ZZ is two? Little man, you are not allowed to grow unless I can witness it first hand. Happy Birthday to you. And ZZ looks so grown up with his new haircut! Where did my little baby friend go?

And I LOVE your cake! Way to go, Martha Stewart. I miss you. But I am glad to see that you have once again joined the blogging world. Tell your whole family hello for me!!

Hey Glo! To answer your question, the pageant is all about the amazing saints who sacrificed so much to settle the Castle Valley right near where we were. It was so great because usually we only think of all the hardships the saints dealt with migrating West, but some of them continued to sacrifice as the prophet Brigham asked saints to settle unseen valleys and regions that had usually only been seen by God and some Indians. Some of my ancestors on my moms side helped settle Castle Valley and surrounding areas.

Our great family still owns the only remaining homestead in Joes Valley (where Paul & I met). This is how we are related to Elder Dallin Oaks. My great, great grandparents are his great-grandparents, Abinadi & Hannah Seely Olsen. Pretty neat, so we see him every 2 years at the Olsen Reunion at our Ranch just outside Castle Dale. Hannah's nephew (who is old & our caller for square dancing at the ranch) wrote the pageant. Sorry about the long winded answer. It's a really special place for Paul & I. Love ya!

Funny story and no phone service. So like me. Today, Kalli and I were playing in Grandma's toy room when Kalli noticed the Barbie cars. There was a blonde barbie in the front seat and Kalli says...

"Momma, I want Glory out."

Yes- my daughter thinks that you Ms. Glory, are Barbie. Too cute. I'll call you soon! Miss you lots!
