5 weeks old!

this is for you Amy

My Ruby has got to be one of the easiest babies on the planet. She already sleeps through the night! Unfortunately she had a fever of 102 degrees a few days ago and I had to take her to the E.R. It was a bit of a nightmare. They did everything from x-rays, I.V's to a spinal tap!! Scary! My poor little baby was poked and prodded for about 4 hours before they finally got the results that she just had the flu and that we could go home. When I finally left the hospital I remember thinking, "Man that was such a waist! All they did was torture my sweet sick baby!" Immediately following that thought I had a change of heart and felt extremely grateful that nothing was seriously wrong with her, and that I could take her home. What a blessing it is that she is healthy and not still in the hospital with some deathly infection.
Our friends Rochelle and Greg definitely deserve a shout out for watching my kids for hours on end and then putting them to bed for us. Greg also gave Ruby a beautiful blessing before we left for the hospital. Thanks a ton you Guys! We owe you one!

Ha Amy, I got to it before you!

Glory, Ruby is beautiful. So cute and sweet--I love the yawn picture.

I'm so glad she wasn't too sick. It can be so scary when that happens to the babes (especially when you're out of health insurance!). Also sounds like you've got some good friends, and some good perspective--blessings abound!

Hi, Glo! I'm so sorry Ruby was sick. That's so tough when they're so young. Jacob had RSV a week or two back, and it was awful. As I was forcing a mask onto his face for nebulizer treatments every four hours, I kept wondering what he must be thinking I was doing to him. "Mom, seriously! Can't you see that I'm struggling to breathe? How 'bout if you leave that thing off my face so I can get a little air!"

What a cutie patootie! That last picture totally looks to me like Grant. I love all that hair. I wish my kids had hair like that when they are that age. She is an angel and I can't wait till I can hold my baby. Not too much longer. I am glad she is ok with all the health scare. I hate when little babies get sick. It is really scary. I hope my baby sleeps through the night at 5 weeks but with my kids it is just a pipe dream. I am lucky if they sleep through the night at 9 months. Julianna is still waking me up off and on and she is 3. So I am not counting on it.

AHHHH, that is my heart singing with joy. I love her so much!!! I can't believe how cute she is. She is already changing and I have not even got to meet her yet. I can't believe she got the flu, well, I guess I can. If I remember right you all get it about once a year. Did she get sick on your weekend away? Was that fun or did it end up being a little too much too soon with little Ruby? If you have any photos- post them baby!!! I'm glad she is doing better. She is just way too sweet and innocent to already have to go through that, so heart breaking. Poor Ruby. Love you girlies!!! xoxo

Ruby looks like such a sweet baby. I LOVE her full head of hair! Very glad to hear she's okay, sometimes when the baby is so easy we say, there has to be something else coming. I'm just glad it was short lived, it's always amazing what a grateful heart can do in any situation. You're a good mommy Glo!

Love you!

She is such a little doll! :D

I am so glad that she is okay! What a nightmare. I am sure that it is no walk in the park to have a 5 week-old with the flu, but what a relief!

I have been checking everyday for new pictures. Ruby "Sue" is adorable. I miss you so much. I think of you everytime I drink hot chocolate! I am glad she checked out OK at the ER. When babies are as good as her it makes you think you could have another!

Just fine... who am I kidding? She's GREAT!!! How on earth did you get her to sleep so well? We're still eating twice a night...

Ah, shucks. It was nothin'. And I really mean nothin'. My kids were SOOOOOO happy to get a quasi-sleep over with Z Z and Eliza. And I'm just happy that Ruby was ok.

Oh Glory, I feel like a ding dong, I've talked to you like twice this week and I didn't know about Ruby being in the ER! That is so horrible and traumatic! I'm so happy your little angel is OK, speaking of, she is gorgeous! Seriously, the kid doesn't take a bad picture! I wish, wish, wish I could see her and hold her right now. Rowan wants me to tell you that she likes your cute baby bug. I love you!

she is so cute, and i think she looks more like her older brother Grant these days!

glad she is safe and sound, and I could tell hearing the story from you the day after that it was a TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE. They just had a big article in parenting magazine about ER visits with kids you might empathize with.

love ya GlorY
