you're Driving me crazy

Yes, we are crazy. We decided to drive from Texas to Utah, from Utah to California and then back to Texas. Over all we drove about 4,000 miles, that's 5 days in the car! Luckily we have great little travelers, they've been trained from birth. They love listening to books on cd, coloring, playing the alphabet game, napping (my favorite), and eating treats from the gas stations. Our kids have seldom had the privilege to have a dvd player in the car until recently. We were so excited to use it, and to brake up the trip a little bit I waited 6 hours before pulling it out. I popped the movie in, pressed play, and...you guessed it, nothing! It was broken! Darn it. I think my kids thought it was too good to be true anyway. We ended up using Christmas money to buy another one for the trip home, this time we bought an extended warranty.

Glory, this sounds like the best road trip ever (though I know how it goes with kids!). Did you guys go up north through Oklahoma and Kansas? Make any stops?

Matt, how nice to get comments from you! I'm sad that I didn't get any pictures of you to post on my blog.
We went up through New Mexico and part of Colorado. I really wanted to stop at the Four Corners (not too far from you guys) but it was like 1 am and the kids were all asleep and it would've been a 1 hour detour, maybe next time. On the way back we stopped in this crazy little town outside of Tuscon, and there was this little hidden museum type place connected to a gas station. It had a mummy, all this old fruniture, old cars, guns and art work and all sorts of antiques. The crazy thing was that there was no type of security system, just all these very old random things collected in a make shift little warehouse, it was pretty cool. I would have liked to have explored a little more during our trip but with limited days of vacation and lots of hours of travel, there really wasen't too much we could do.

Everyone looks so peaceful... bummer about the dvd player. Thank goodness for seatbelts, treats and modern technology- it makes life so much better!

That one picture of Zack looks like he's giving you the death stare for keeping him in the car so long! What good kids!
